Investigating whether screening can impact on ovarian cancer mortality.
UKCTOCS is the largest ovarian cancer screening trial and one of the largest individual randomised trials in the world. Ovarian cancer is the most fatal of all gynaecological cancers. Detecting the disease early when survival is favourable is the main goal of our efforts.
UKCTOCS invited women from the general population via the NHS. Recruitment and screening was conducted at 13 trial centres based at NHS Hospital Trusts in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
The trial is now in the long-term follow-up phase with the final results expected in early 2021.
