N-ALIVE trial features on BBC Radio 4

A report about the N-ALIVE trial has featured in the 31 August 2011 edition of BBC Radio 4's PM programme.
N-ALIVE (NALoxone InVEstigation) is a large, prison-based, randomised controlled trial assessing the number of lives that could be saved by provision of Naloxone-on-release to adult prisoners with a history of heroin injection. The broadcast of the BBC report coincides with the 11th International Overdose Awareness Day.
Heroin overdose is one of the main causes of death for young adults. Most people who die from an accidental heroin overdose do not mean to kill themselves. Most overdoses happen when injectors are with friends, often in their own home.
