What was this study about?

A systematic review and meta-analysis was carried out bringing together trials that looked at whether adding abiraterone to androgen deprivation therapy (ADT), improved survival in men with metastatic prostate cancer.

What difference did this study make?

The addition of abiraterone to ADT showed an improvement in survival and progression-free survival in men whose disease had spread (metastatic) and offers an alternative to docetaxel, for men who are starting treatment for the first time.
